NOT YOUR USUAL SUSPECTS

A group blog featuring an international array of killer mystery, suspense, and romantic suspense writers. With premises and story lines different from your run-of-the-mill whodunits, we tend to write outside the box. We blog several times a week on all topics relating to romantic suspense and mystery, our writing, and our readers. We welcome all comments and often have guest bloggers. All our authors can be contacted separately, too, using their own social media links.

We find our genre delightfully, dangerously, and deliciously exciting - join us here, if you do too!

NOTE: the blog is currently dormant but please enjoy the posts we're keeping online.

Lego Inspiration

Feeling the need for some encouragement and inspiration?  I recommend quotes and Legos.

“The world has enough writers. The world needs more storytellers.”

“Win the lottery and the writers I know get a dreamy look in their eye. ‘Ahh, servants’. No one ever says: ‘Ahh, I’ll never have to writer another word.’”

“Not long ago, I heard on the radio a description of a new form of propulsion for (a deep space probe.) The spacecraft was powered by a newly developed ion motor, where sub atomic particles…provided acceleration. The scientist describing the new motor said the amazing thing about the motor was …the electrons were so small that acceleration on the craft was actually only the equivalent of the weight of a piece of paper….”  David Whyte, from “Crossing the Unknown Sea.”

“The muse is as cunning as a dealer in crack cocaine.”

“The purpose of art is not the release of a momentary ejection of adrenaline, but it is rather, the gradual lifelong construction of a state of wonder and serenity.” Glenn Gould

Thanks to my nephew, Carsen, for the awesome inspiration.

Unless noted, the quotes were scribbled into my notebooks at writing conventions. Thanks to my fellow writers for their inspiration too.

Thanks for the inspiration, J. I love the LEGO scenes! :) Both of my boys celebrated birthdays this past weekend, so we were surrounded by LEGOs. Put together a garbage truck and the Ghostbusters car. It's very therapeutic. ;)

Yay for Lego birthdays! I couldn't believe it when I saw Car's set up--his whole desk covered in these elaborate action vignettes. He had a story to go with each little scene too.
Afraid we may have another writer on our hands.... :)

Oh that's brilliant! The quotes are so apt :). And I have to confess I have a fond connection with Lego - apparently the first modern brick was created on my actual birthday!! (or so the Sons tell me *g*)
