NOT YOUR USUAL SUSPECTS

A group blog featuring an international array of killer mystery, suspense, and romantic suspense writers. With premises and story lines different from your run-of-the-mill whodunits, we tend to write outside the box. We blog several times a week on all topics relating to romantic suspense and mystery, our writing, and our readers. We welcome all comments and often have guest bloggers. All our authors can be contacted separately, too, using their own social media links.

We find our genre delightfully, dangerously, and deliciously exciting - join us here, if you do too!

NOTE: the blog is currently dormant but please enjoy the posts we're keeping online.

What Lies Around the Corner?

I’m a huge fan of English TV mysteries and watch them whenever I want to relax. My favorite is Midsummer Murders, and it never ceases to amaze me how the pretty English villages hide a multitude of secrets and simmering undercurrents. They build and build and suddenly there are bodies popping out of the woodwork.

I thought I’d do a fun post on villages today and put you all to work.

Now imagine you live in one of these villages and you’re going for an early morning walk. You turn the corner and discover a…
Personally, I think there could be zombies around the corner in Dartmoor, and I think the local postie is lying on the ground in the Cotswolds with an arrow in his back and his letters and parcels strewn all around him.

Go wild! What do you think lies around the corner and how did they die?

Shelley Munro lives in New Zealand and writes sexy romances, usually with a body strewn here or there, for Carina Press, Ellora’s Cave and Samhain Publishing. You can learn more about Shelley and her books at www.shelleymunro.com

Lovely pictures. I think what ever is around the corner has to be horrific to offset the beautiful scenery. Zombies would be good or something like Stephen Kings The Dome. You're walking alone and whap you crash into an invisible wall.

Makes me homesick :) There is always intrigue around the corner and village gossips know most of it--but never all of it :)

I think dead guy on a bent bicycle, or a tiger, jaws dripping blood :) Or a wild-eyed riderless horse...
No zombies for me :)

Big Foot--in need of a rest-- leaves America to visit the Cotswolds and is resting his huge body against the wall after enjoying his postie snack. The local law, after following his huge footprints find him burping. He sees them and decides he will write a "thank you," note to the residents for supplying his main dish.

Love the pictures.

I don't know why, but I'm picturing a creepy little girl around the corner. She's standing there, in a fluffly pink dress and a bow in her hair, plucking petals off a daisy and singing a creepy children's song. When she sees me, she gives me a knowing smile and warns me not to go any further.

Ack, I'm heading back to my WIP and my serial killers...not nearly as chilling. LOL

Rita - I felt the ouch when my head connected with that invisible wall!

Toni - I know. The English villages are so pretty. Chocolate boz pretty. A tiger. Now that has possibilities. Did you hear the news last week about sighting of a lion in South England. The police didn't find any, but they spent a day searching.

JB - LOL. It certainly would explain a lot.

Elise - love that idea. I can imagine Big Foot burping after his postman snack. The thank you note is priceless!

Anne Marie - I got chills reading your suggestion. I think I'll stick with big Foot and serial killers *grin*

Hi Karen,

Let's hope for the best and pray that there's a cute little English tea shop around the corner. We'll have tea and scones and talk about books :)

Shelley - tea, scones, and talking about books is something I would totally enjoy!

English tea and scones. When's the next flight?

Oh, Shelley, I like your idea! Add in a quaint book store and I'd never leave. ;)

A visually beautiful blog, Shelley. Those English villages are to die for. Pun intended!
